Project Goal

GS1 Connect is an annual conference hosted by GS1 US. Attendees learn about supply chain industry trends, best practices, emerging technologies and how GS1 standards can elevate their businesses. Most of the event is spent networking with industry experts and peers along with attending various work sessions.

We designed the visual identity for the 2023 conference to reflect this year’s theme, ‘ASCEND’ along with the location Denver, Colorado. Our job was to design an engaging event space that encouraged conversation and education. A supporting website, social media marketing campaign, and print materials were created to promote the event to attendees and speakers.

Branding & Logo

The logo was designed to reflect the event’s location and the transformative impact GS1 standards have on supply chain operations. The theme “Ascend” along with the upward arrow graphics symbolize business growth, progress, and success driven by the adoption of GS1 standards. The design also draws inspiration from the Rocky Mountains and Denver’s high elevation, reinforcing the connection to the host city. Together, the arrows represent efficiency and streamlined communication across the supply chain, illustrating how businesses can elevate their operations through GS1 standards.

Signage

To bring the exhibition to life, we extended the event branding across large-scale environmental signage including backdrops, wayfinding, banners, table decals, and presentation decks. Our goal was to create a welcoming environment that encouraged conversation and connection among attendees. The project required designing hundreds of distinct yet cohesive designs, each tailored to its specific purpose within the exhibition. To manage the scale of the work efficiently our team divided responsibilities by area, allowing each designer to focus on their assigned section while maintaining consistency across the overall event space. Over the year, we produced hundreds of designs that ultimately contributed to a highly engaging exhibition hall and networking space.

The Website

The website was updated throughout the year leading up to the event. We began by launching a landing page that welcomed visitors, introduced the year’s theme, and guided attendees to register for the conference. We then expanded the website with additional pages highlighting conference experiences, featured exhibitors and sponsors, and key information about Denver. The website was refreshed weekly with new content, branded photography, animations, and custom graphics to drive more visitors to the site. By the time of the event, the website had helped drive record-breaking attendance, attracting more than 1,000 attendees from over 400 companies.

Print Collateral

The majority event was promoted through the website, digital downloads, and social media and email marketing. However we did create print collateral for attendees to navigate the venue with and identify sessions most relevant to them based on their industry. In addition to wayfinding materials, we also developed a variety of souvenirs that served as memorable keepsakes while promoting the location of the following year’s Connect event.

Final Results

Over the course of the year, our team successfully developed an engaging event experience that inspired both our client and Connect attendees. The final result was a dynamic exhibition environment designed to foster education, collaboration, and meaningful connections among visitors. Supported by a strategic website and integrated marketing campaigns, the event achieved record-breaking attendance with more than 1,000 attendees representing over 400 companies.
